The Only Way Out Of Pain Is Through

The Come Up.

You grew up in a tough environment. Your family wasn’t like the ones you saw on TV—nowhere close. Chaos is the only word that could describe your upbringing. Trauma lived in the walls, shaking the house from time to time.

Money was scarce. Stress was high. And your younger self had no idea how to cope.

Fast forward to now, and that pain is still here. It lingers in the form of self-doubt, numbness, and feeling lost. The younger version of you is still searching, knocking on different doors, looking for a remedy and a place to rest.

You knock on the doors of:

  • Relationships

  • New jobs

  • New cars

  • Clothes

  • "Friends"

  • Therapy

  • Status

  • Substances

But these are just cover-ups, not the cure.

Every morning, you wake up and go about your day, seeking new distractions from the pain. Sometimes it’s loud, right in your face. Other times, it’s just a whisper in the background. But it’s always there. You never get a break.

If this resonates with you, you’re reading the right newsletter.

Stop Running.

For people like us, there’s only one way out—through.

I’m not here to sell you a course or a magic supplement.

I’m here to remind you: healing comes from within.

But first, you have to identify the resistance inside you and face it.

Behind the pain is where you’ll find rest. Behind the pain is you, the witness. Behind the pain is where home lies.

For those of us carrying heavy trauma, our minds can feel unbearable. But don’t run from it. You’re strong enough now. You’re not the same kid from back then. Your mind may think you are, but you’ve grown. You’ve gained wisdom, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Your struggles are your greatest blessings. Your struggles are the fuel that will propel you back to your true self. Thank them. They’re bringing you home.

Without struggle, we grow weak and complacent. Comfort breeds stagnation. But hardship? Hardship strengthens the soul.

Suffering and struggle are like a gym for the mind and spirit. They make you stronger from the inside out.

Sit in the Sauna of Healing.

When I talk about healing, I’m not talking about burning incense and doing yoga for Instagram. (Though if that helps, cool—just being real.)

I’m talking about shedding layers of psychic trauma. The real work.

We’re letting go of old beliefs that bind us, that keep us in pain. When we step out of ego and identity, things get uncomfortable. But don’t run. I’m reminding you—because I need the reminder, too. We’re all vulnerable to distraction.

Make time to turn inward.

How do we break free from emotional and psychic pain?

Thankfully, the steps are simple:

  • Chanting

  • Prayer

  • Meditation

  • Walking

  • Writing

  • Observing

  • Serving others

We already know these things work. It’s not a secret.

The problem isn’t knowing the solution—it’s the resistance inside us.

We can spend hours scrolling social media, binge-watching Netflix, but when it comes to sitting in silence for 30 minutes? Suddenly, it feels impossible.

Why? Because the pain body doesn’t like the light. It resists what’s good for you.

For a while, you’ll have to fight. But not with force—with love. (Okay, maybe a little force. Beat that MF.)

Set the goal: 30 minutes a day. Dedicate that time to any of these practices.

  • Meditation reveals the stories we hold onto.

  • Prayer helps us surrender.

  • Serving others reminds us we’re all one.

  • Chanting keeps our minds focused on source.

  • Observing detaches us from toxic thought patterns.

All of these are just vehicles guiding you inward—to your being, your heart, your source. They all lead to the same place.

This isn’t an overnight fix. It’s lifelong work. But as my guru says, the benefits are immediate.

Sit for just 5 or 10 minutes, and you’ll feel it—peace, love, a softer mind.

Sometimes, you’ll cry. Sometimes, your body will shake. That’s a good sign. Something is being released. Trust the process.

It will take you all the way.

Keep saying yes. Keep coming home.

The child in you has been waiting.

Much love, Michael
